Lisa Coffee-Smith, PMA-CPT

Teaching Style: Playful. Energetic. Classical.

Lisa came to Pilates with a lifelong passion for dance, sports and creative movement. She says, "I love the limitless possibilities for growth that exist within Pilates. My clients range in age from 12 to 96, and all of them are stronger and more flexible as a result of this transformative practice." Lisa completed her Pilates certification with the PhysicalMind Institute in 2005 and is currently completing the Real Pilates Teacher Training Bridge Program through Alycea Ungaro. As director of the Total Pilates Instructor Training Center, she teaches anatomy, movement science, and a 500-hour comprehensive Pilates program. In the studio and online, she teaches private sessions; Chair classes; Tower classes; Reformer classes; and Bounce Fitness. In addition to her core Pilates training, she has completed workshops in the Melt Method; Barre; Pre-and Post-Natal Pilates; Pilates for scoliosis; Pilates for Neurological Conditions; and many others.

Teaching Style: Athletic. Classical. Inspiring.

As a competitive gymnast, Jeanne  experienced the value of correct form for successful body movement.  Within Joseph Pilates Method teachings are lessons that correct body alignment equals dynamic body function. I believe in the original work of Joseph Pilates, and I teach those exercises as he intended; therefore, I consider myself a classical Pilates instructor. 

A few of my favorite things: Hanging out with my daughters and boyfriend; diving off diving boards; eating sushi;  going to concerts with friends and family; and being on the radio.

Karen Bates, Certified Pilates Instructor

Karen teaches a mix of classical and contemporary pilates, and she always honors her client's abilities and limitations. Hand weights and cardio are also included if appropriate for the client. 

With skills acquired through years of continuing Pilates education , Karen has worked successfully with special populations, including: Pre- and Post-Natal, Scoliosis, Neurological Conditions, Osteoporosis, Hip and Knee replacement, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Knowledge and incorporation of pilates props — stretch band, Magic Circle, balls, weights. Extensive knowledge of pre- and post-natal Pilates. 

After taking my first mat class in the fall of 1999, I was instantly hooked. The work spoke to me because it helped me find the mind/body connection and helped me in all other areas of fitness. Running became easier. Yoga made more sense. 

I try to use the principles of pilates in a fun and approachable manner to help clients find strength and flexibility while inspiring overall wellness. 

A few of my favorite things: I love to travel, cook, garden, and read.

Pilates was recommended to me as a more effective way to offer personal training because of the intense training in how the body works in response to movement.  After many years of running, biking, swimming, and traditional exercise, I immediately saw the positive effects of the Pilates Method.

Each client receives a persocnal movement plan for each session based on their goals and what their bodies need.  I use verbal cueing, demonstration, and variable props to help the client understand the exercise.

A few of my favorite things: I continue to run for fun.  I am an avid reader, English language tutor, and community volunteer.  I am enjoying watching my grandchildren as they grow.  I also love to travel.
